A week ago, I took my best running friend Juliette out for a nice relaxing (kid-free!) ladies lunch at Wendy’s to try out their new salads. They have three new salads that are 50% lower in fat grams, 29% lower in sodium, and 61% lower in saturated fat.
Wendy’s new salads are:
Asian Cashew Chicken,
BBQ Ranch Chicken
and Taco Supremo Salads.
Wendy’s is a leader in the salad business – they were the first restaurant to bring the salad bar to quick service customers more than 30 years ago! So when I heard that they had new salads to try well, I just had to try them with my friend Juliette.

Somehow our chat about running, how much we hate winter running and wearing 3-4 layers of running gear, turned into a much more fun discussion of all of our great plans for summer (did someone say cottage?!). As we talked and planned, Juliette had the BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad in the full-sized portion. (Wendy’s offers both half and full-sized portions).

We really had a great time discussing our summer plans and schedules as we momentarily felt like it WAS summer with our made FRESH in store salads. (All Wendy’s salads are prepared fresh in the restaurants every day, and each is topped with warm chicken or chili when the customer orders it.)
I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for a good salad – And the salads from Wendy’s were GOOD!
When we go out for dinner, that’s what I usually order. Juliette and I agreed that the salads that we had were definitely restaurant quality, far superior than any salad we’ve ever had at a fast food restaurant. They are bold in flavour and vibrant in colour, with on trend premium ingredients like Cashews and edamame that you wouldn’t expect to find in salads at quick service restaurants. You have to take our word for it, after all between the two of us we have well over 20 years experience working in the restaurant industry, so we’ve eaten A LOT of salads! With three new salads – and even freshened-up dressings – Wendy’s is proving that salad innovation is never out of style.
