I have a confession….
I’m an emotional eater. I eat when I’m lonely, bored, sad and angry. When I’m feeling emotional I’ll pretty much overeat on anything sweet, salty or crunchy that I can get my hands on.
Yesterday I was feeling rather lonely. Hubs has been working a TON lately, and he’ll be away on business all this week. I really MISS him – I miss his companionship… A LOT!
So I overate .
I ate an entire 2lb bag of…..
CARROTS!!!
Now some people might say I should get a handle on my emotional eating and my triggers. To journal my thoughts and feelings… blah… blah… blah…
Whatever. That’s not a realistic solution *for me*.
Did you know that 2lbs of carrots is only 300 calories? OK, so that sounds like quite a bit, but when you consider HOW FULL I feel now and how I don’t really think I can fit anymore in, then 300 calories isn’t so bad, now is it?
Especially in comparison to:
- 2lbs of chicken wings = 2, 424 calories
- 2lbs cool ranch potato chips = 4,800 calories
- Bananas
- Apple slices
- cucumbers
- carrots
- grapes
- navel oranges

I love cucumbers soaked in white vinegar! I can eat them all day!
@TammyMcDaniel Mmmmm – that’s a great suggestion Tammy – Thank you!

I really think it’s great that you find good alternatives. It’s really a good start maybe in time you wont eat anymore when your emotional. Good job and keep on going the right way.

Thanks Peter!
This is the basic idea of many different diet plans. x amount of something healthy may be one of your daily points but the same x amount of something unhealthy may cost you 3 or 4 points. Now everything should be eaten in moderation but better to over eat carrots than Big Macs
