This is my Mamavation post for Monday, March 28, 2011.
How was your week last week? Did your drink your water? Get your beauty sleep? And eat your 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies? (Remember: fruit and veggies are chock full of fiber!).
I had a great start to my week, then a big snowstorm hit (a foot of snow over a 24 hr period), and my motivation fizzled out. I’m so DONE with WINTER!!! Hubby was also home very late MOST nights of the week. SO I ate…. Not emotional eating, just boredom. I really missed the ADULT interaction, even though I had 6 friends over on Saturday. That proved to be too many people to have over without my hubby there – I barely had an opportunity to talk to them. I was so lonely and bored from Friday to Sunday (though not at the party – I had no time for boredom then), but all of the rest of the week that I ate ridiculous amounts of everything (mostly fruit, but I’ll admit that there were a few brownies hurt in the process).
Feeling a bit down about the last 3 days of my week, I settled in and read my favourite book to my daughters tonight, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” by Dr. Seuss. The first page really struck a chord with me:
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any
direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll
decide where to go.
Ahhhh that Dr. Seuss – he’s always SO right! Yes! I can’t blame it on anyone or anything except myself! I chose to eat everything I ate. And yes, I’m the guy who’ll decide where to go!
So, this week I will decide to exercise. In fact, I spoke to hubby about my feelings of being “trapped” and unable to go anywhere with the 3 kids (anywhere that I WANT to go, not where the kids need to go etc). He suggested that I join a gym, or an evening class that I can go to after 8 pm (when he typically gets home). After a little research I’ve come to the conclusion that a gym can fit into my lifestyle (especially if it has a god daycare).
LOOK OUT WORLD, I’M SEARCHING FOR A GYM!!!
My week really wasn’t as terrible as I make it sound – I still managed to get 4 days of exercise in:
Monday: Ran 4.5k with the kids. Sierra rode her bike while I pushed a sleepy Brooke and Amber in the double jogger.
Tuesday: Mommy/Baby Bootcamp
Wednesday: Shovelled the snow for an HOUR
Thursday: Mommy/Baby Bootcamp
Friday: Cleaned the house for the party
Saturday: Set up for the party
Sunday: Rest/play with the kids 🙂
Perhaps I needed the three rest days to regain my THIRST for exercise again?
Have a great week everyone!!
