Motivation Monday: January 10, 2011

This is my Mamavation post for Monday, January 10, 2011.

Hey everyone!

I’m so excited because everyone seems to be off to a flying start this year – I love it!  The enthusiasm for reaching your goals is addictive – I love waking up and checking the #mamavation twitter stream and seeing all the workout tweets. I’m snoozing & you’re working out!

This week I got off to a great start – woke up Monday morning ready to take on the day.  I did the #shred with the kids  and started us on a routine of eating healthy for the New Year.

Tuesday I woke up extra early and headed out for an early morning run before the rest of the family woke up – here’s  proof:

It’s a good thing I got out early because my middle daughter woke up feeling too sick to go to preschool, so she stayed home with Amber & I while my oldest was at school.

Wednesday I was feeling unmotivated and run down after being up late as a panelist for the #gno #yoga Tara Stiles Twitter Party.  I sent out a tweet looking for some motivation and of course the sistahood came to my rescue and kicked my butt up off of the couch.  I did the #shred with the kids & they had a blast – I felt more energized afterwards too.  This was a good thing because that night I was a panelist at the #gamestop #mamavation Play Your Way-Personal Fitness Twitter Party w/ @GameStop and @bookieboo.

Thursday my middle daughter was still feeling under the weather, so I kept her home with me.  Amber and I attended a free Mommy/Baby Zumba class, and Brooke came with us and shot this cute video:

Friday my wheels fell off… A week and a half of exercising everyday came to an abrupt halt.  I woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a mack truck:

  • Incredibly sore throat
  • Sore ears
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Body ache
  • Swollen lymph nodes (Really weird fact – I have one lymph node that becomes visible on my neck whenever I’m coming down with/or fighting something)

Thankfully Brooke felt well enough to go to preschool while Sierra went to school, so I spent the day doing a whole lot of nothing.

Saturday… still sick.

Sunday… still sick & COVERED in a red sandpaper like rash… so I FINALLY headed to the Doctor – SCARLET FEVER!  I started a strong course of antibiotics immediately.  Thankfully Amber will be ok and NOT get it at all because I’m breastfeeding!  Yay!

EDIT – Hubby & oldest daughter also came down with Scarlet Fever, so the entire family is now on antibiotics and pretty much quarantined – stay away from us!

This week I have no plans in resuming my workouts – I’m so disappointed because my mommy/baby bootcamp class started.  I need to rest and take care of myself, hubby and the kids.  Next week will see me returning full steam ahead and joining in with #thatthang (p90x BABY!) and my twice a week, mommy/baby bootcamp class.  I can’t wait!

Have you ever been injured starting a new exercise routine? Tell us about it…If not, do you get any aches and pains? Where?

LOL – we all know I’m the Queen of too much, too soon!  I’ve gotten two stress fractures, IT Band Friction Syndrome, a calf strain, plantar fasciitis and now Scarlet Fever… My advice (if only I would listen to myself… ) is to start slow! Slow and steady wins the race!

    I love how you ladies are shakin’ it under the Baby Registry sign. I bet expectant Moms come in and say, “I’d like some of that energy, please!”

    So sorry to have heard your house was under the weather. I hope you are taking good care of yourself. I know it is tough when you have a whole family of sickies to tend to. You get a pass… soon as you are up to it, I will be waiting to hear how fantastic your workouts are again!
