Happy Monday guys!
The weather this past week was absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderful Spring Break! I greatly enjoyed my 3 days off of work, but wish I had an awesome training and eating week to report to you. Alas, I am human too
Monday – the week started great – I ate clean, tried out a new recipe, did a 45 min Nike Training Club workout, then went for a 5k run in the evening.
Tuesday – beautiful day out, but I slept in and missed my opportunity to workout. (Note to self: work on going to bed earlier). I can’t blame daylight savings time for my sleep-in either – truth be told, I simply stayed up too late surfing the internet. On the plus side, I organised one of the kids rooms, took the girls to the park (twice) and ate clean.
Wednesday – back to work. I ate clean, but skipped my workout because I slept in and didn’t remember to bring my workout gear to work. (Note to self: work on going to bed earlier AND preparing my stuff the night before).
Thursday – Again I slept in, and missed my workout. I was off of work so I met my BFF and another friend of ours at the Toronto Zoo with the kids. It was a gorgeous day outside, and we had a lot of fun checking out the animals:
Friday – back to work. I arrived at work and found a new email from my husband:
The girls and I would like you and Amber to join us in Niagara Falls for a fun-filled getaway to the Americana Resort and Water Park. Please pack for yourself and Amber and meet us there tonight.
Wha? He never does spontaneous things so I was shocked! He drove Sierra and Brooke to Niagara Falls (he had the day off as it was his turn to look after him for Spring Break). He took them out for breakfast and lunch, mini golfing and spent several hours at the Americana Indoor Water Park with them. Even though I had completely remembered my workout gear, I had to work through my lunch in order to build some extra time to leave work early so I could drive and get to Niagara Falls before the girls bed time. Boy were they ever excited to be staying at a hotel!
Saturday – After a terrible sleep (Amber didn’t sleep well at the hotel), we all got up for breakfast, then spent THREE hours at the water park before driving home:
After we got home, my BFF came over and had dinner with us, then we got all dolled up for a night out…
COUNTRY LINE DANCING!
We had a blast! We went to a country bar called Nashville North which is a short 20 min drive from my house that recently re-opened. From 9-12 they have all country line dancing, then at midnight it switches to Top 40 Dance Music. We got there at 10, watched the dancers for quite some time before we joined in and danced to few songs we knew: Boot Scootin’ Boogie, Cha Cha Slide and The Macarena. Then music turned to Top 40 Dance so we danced some more. We’re both city girls and while the idea of line dancing sounded fun, neither of us had any experience, so it took us a while to work up the courage to join the dancers and try to follow along with them:
When we left we vowed to learn a few more dances so that we can dance more next time (Yes there will definitely be a next time). (Tush Push? Electric Slide? Fake ID? The Wobble? Cotton-Eyed Joe? Achy Breaky? Oh YouTube I love thee!). We each did some research and found some classes we can take so that we can make line dancing a more regular girls night out. My BFF lives an hour away from me, so we’ll have to take our classes on our own. But I told another one of my friends about our night out and she’s interested in coming to the classes with me – YAY!
I also want to focus on a few things that I’ve noticed are a regular theme in my Monday posts:
- Sleep – I need to go to bed at 10 (no excuses!)
- Prepare – I need to pack my lunch and my backpack with my workout clothes before I go to bed
- Nutrition – I need to meal plan ahead of time every.single.day
