This is my Mamavation post for Monday, April 3, 2011.
Wow! Tomorrow (or if you’re reading this on Monday, today) is the #mamavation Twitter party where the two Mamavation Moms for Campaign 8 will be announced! I’m so excited for everyone – you’re all so deserving! I’ll be a panelist at the party, so if you want to join me, RSVP here and join @bookieboo and I on Twitter on Monday April 4, 2011 from 8-10pm EST. It’ll be a lot of fun and theres a TON of great fitness SWAG to win!
This week my post is gonna be short and sweet ’cause I’m a little worn out from a busy weekend – I ran my first race since baby Amber was born! 8K! You can read my race report on Generation Go. I learned one thing during my race – I need to run MORE! In January, I registered for a half marathon coming up at the end of May and apparently I’m WAY behind in my training! I’ve been staying active, but not following any training plan. That last km of my race was HARD! Harder than an 8k should be 8 weeks before a half marathon….
So it’s time to buckle down. I’ve been exercising regularly because it’s fun and I ran my 8k on Saturday without really training specifically for it and did alright, but it could have been done better. So I’ve taken a long hard look at my family’s schedule, and found a way to fit more training in – more structured training. This week will be my first week training with a FOCUS on my upcoming half marathon.
Here’s a summary of what I accomplished last week:
Monday: Nike Training Club Workout
Tuesday: Pushed Brooke and Amber 5km’s in the double jogging stroller.
Friday: Rest (drove to downtown Toronto to pick up my race kit)
Saturday: 8k race
Sunday: Rest/play with the kids – roller bladed around the neighbourhood pushing the double jogging stroller.
Here’s a pic from my race:
Have a great week everyone!!
