This is my Mamavation Monday post for Monday August 22, 2011.
(I meant to post this Monday night, but my piece-of-shit laptop no longer holds a charge and if I move the laptop the cord falls out).
Hi everyone! How was your week? Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â My week was very quiet. *Almost* too quiet
A few weeks ago my husband’s mom asked if our two oldest daughters could come to her house for a WEEK! Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â You may remember that in January she looked after them for 10 days while I went to Hawaii with my husband and Amber (who was 2.5 months old at the time). Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I was shocked that after spending 10 days with the girls my mother-in-law wanted them to visit again, but I happily said yes – they’d love to visit. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â So a week ago we drove to her house (a 7 hr drive) and dropped Sierra and Brooke off at her house, then drove home with just Amber the next day. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â (Amber came home with us because I’m still nursing her).
So I spent a week home with just Amber. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â It was nice, but it was also lonely. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I worked on an online project that I’ve been daydreaming about building for a year, cleaned the entire house, purged toys, stripped all of the beds and washed sheets, and scrubbed places in my house that haven’t seen a sponge in far too long, did some yard work, ran a million errands, did some back-to-work shopping, etc… It was great!
And I worked out! Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I did EVERYTHING I planned to do:
- Continued healthy, mindful eating – starting with my protein smoothies for breakfast.
- Ran 20k (broken up into four 5k runs).
- Did two
Nike Training ClubÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â workoutsBody Pump classes (I realized on Tuesday morning that I could go to BodyPump and leave Amber in the childcare while I worked out.
Thursday was weigh-in day (I only weigh myself once a month)…. I lost 3.5lbs this past month! Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I am now officially in maintenance mode. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I do not need to lose anymore weight. ALL of the baby weight is gone (from all of the babies). Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Over six years I’ve gained (and lost) 110lbs – HAPPY DANCE!

When I first joined Mamavation in December 2009, I needed to lose 20 lbs. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I lost a few lbs then found out I was pregnant with Amber. Since having Amber I’ve been working on losing the 20lbs again. 9 months later I’ve reached my original goal!
How did I do it?
- Exercise – at least 20 min a day
- Meal planning
- Portion control
- Lots of fruits n veggies
And of course, support from my Mamavation Sista’s. Nothing fancy – no skipping meals, no calorie counting, etc. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â The only thing I truly cut out was soda – I broke my 2 a day diet soda addiction cold turkey and replaced it with what the kids callÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â “bubble water” (carbonated water).
This week will be more of the same for me – run 4 times, and strength on non-running days.
