Happy Family Day!
Here in Ontario, it’s Family Day weekend which means I got to spend an extra day with my three favourite little girls:
Hubby spent part of it away for a much deserved guys weekend, so I got to play “Girl’s Club” with Sierra, Brooke and Amber. This also meant that I got the fun job of taking them to all of their activities and sports, including getting up for hockey at a ridiculous early hour on Sunday. (I don’t do early weekend mornings – that’s hubby’s job).
Funny story #1:
I was so out of it Sunday morning, that when I stopped to pick up bagels for breakfast on our way to Sierra’s hockey, I ordered “Sesame Street” bagels. Unfortunately Amber overheard and got really excited! I tried to warn her that mommy made a mistake, but she didn’t understand… She cried the whole 30 min drive to the hockey arena in a nearby town because there was no Elmo on her bagel. Eeeek! RRemind me to at least make myself a coffee at home before trying to order food half asleep…
Funny Story #2:
When we got to hockey i dragged all three girls into the dressing room to get Sierra outfitted in all her gear. Now I was never a hockey player, and hubby usually takes Sierra to hockey, so all the stuff she has to wear is completely foreign to me and takes a lot of concentration for me to velcro/tie/snap properly. Needless to say I wasn’t paying attention to Amber…. All of a sudden everyone in the dressing room started to laugh – I looked over and Amber was standing on the bench completely naked save for her socks. Ooops!
All in all Family Day weekend was a blast. I went to Parent n tot gymnastics, watched SIerra play an awesome hockey game, then watched Brooke skate. On Monday hubby was back so we spent some time taking advantage of the fun Family Day activities that the Town of Milton was hosting: skating, swimming and family Zumba!

My yummy lunch – yogurt with the works!
All in all I’m learning that fitness with the kids is so much more fun, then running by myself. Don’t get me wrong – it’s nice to catch a break and go by myself, but this weekend really reminded me of why I found my last maternity leave so much fun – I had little buddies to share my love of fitness with. Doing things with them is so much more enjoyable.
I hope you all had a great weekend with your families!
