In my opinion, my middle daughter Brooke is absolutely stunning. Below is a picture of her. See the baby towel on her head? That’s her “Long hair”:
You see, Brooke’s hair grows incredibly slow – but it’s a beautiful white blonde. Unfortunately, Brooke believes that long hair makes you beautiful. Every morning I have to tell her to take her pajama pants off of her head. She pretends it’s her long hair. Occasionally I don’t feel like fighting her, and I let her go to daycare with her pants on her head.
I don’t know why she believes she HAS to have long hair to be beautiful. Perhaps it’s because both myself and my oldest daughter have long hair that grows like weeds. Perhaps its because every fairy, princess and even Barbie that she sees has long hair.
I’ve been trying to teach her that it’s not hair, or eye colour, or body shape that makes someone beautiful.
Instead it’s this:
In my opinion, the most beautiful thing a person can do is smile.
It doesn’t matter what size you are, whether you’re wearing designer clothes, or yoga pants from Old Navy. The most beautiful thing is a smile.
Today, I want you to forget about the numbers on the scale, and the scoop of ice cream you had for dessert last night, or how long your hair is. There’s no point in fretting over that.
Instead I want you to be the most beautiful you there ever was – I want you to walk around and smile. Smile at everyone you see!
It takes a lot of work from the face to let out a smile, but just think what good smiling can bring to the most important muscle of the body… the heart. ~Author Unknown

I needed this post today.
And you know what is funny? My younger sister used to do the SAME thing with towels and stuff as her long hair.

Really? That’s interesting – does she have long hair now?
She doesn’t at the moment because she cut it chin length, but she actually ended up being the only one between my mom, her, & I who had thicker hair to grow out longer. It was long for a good while.

Have a great day Erin & have a great Shred!
I feel the most beautiful when I am stretching after a tough workout. I’m usually covered in sweat which makes my muscles (that are normally not crazy visible to me) seem extra- muscley.
My calluses on my hands are raw again from lifting and my skin is usually bright red. In terms of actual attractiveness this is probably not my shining moment, but for me it is the most exhillerating, most proud and most beautiful I feel in a day.
I honesty think that’s when most people are the MOST beautiful – they are also usually pretty happy, cheeks are rosey etc.. I think that’s why I’ve always been attracted to athletes & find my hubby the sexiest after his Jiu Jitsu classes.
Thank you!! Your daughter reminds me of a very old Whoopie Goldberg skit. She puts a towel on her head as a child pretending she has “long, luxurious blonde hair.”
she’s simply beautiful!
so are YOU
