Oh Fall… How i missed you!!
Fall is slowly creeping into my neck of the world with its cool crisp air, brightly coloured leaves and shorter days, but you know what? I’m welcoming her with wide open arms because it means running is now so much easier! When I wrote my post Tuesday night seeking help, the weather was 88F with a humidex making it feel like 104F- ouch!! That is HOT for Canada, nevermind a Tuesday in mid-September. My run that day was absolutely horrendous.
Thankfully, this morning I woke up to this:
Now that is much better running weather!!
I got really excited when I spotted today’s forecast. I love heat… when I’m sitting on my pool deck enjoying an organic beer or a nice glass of wine, but not so much when I’m running. I don’t do heat, so I was really happy to see that things have cooled down immensely. I bundled up a bit, and headed out for my long run.
I was hoping to run 10k, but it’s been quite awhile since I did a double digit run, so I was half expecting my legs (and mind) to quit around 8k. After 3k I knew that wasn’t going to happen. My legs felt great and my mind was really enjoying the run. Yay!
I passed by the pond, and decided to turn down the trail that goes around it. The beauty of fall was everywhere, which made me feel amazing! There is something about the changing colours and the crisp air that makes me feel so alive.
As I ran, I stopped to take some pics of the beauty around me, including this pic of the Canadian Geese:
And this train (which thankfully I saw before crossing the tracks):
I then continued my run through the downtown area of my town, and took this picture of the Farmer’s Market:
(Remind me to go next weekend to pick up some fresh produce)
I lasted the full 10k and could have kept going, except Amber had parent-n-tot gymnastics, and I had to pick up a present for a birthday party that Sierra was invited to, and drop her off. All in all it was great to have a GOOD run! It’s been far too long since I’ve felt like that I could keep going. Perhaps all of my running problems of late have been more due to the heat than anything else?
Hope you get a chance to enjoy the great Fall weather!
