My Weekend in Pictures

IMG_0160.JPG

Happy Monday everyone!  Here in Canada it feels like Sunday night because today was a holiday known as the "Civic Holiday".  The first Monday in August is observed as a holiday in most of the Canadian Provinces though there isn't any consistency in what to call the holiday, nor is there any consistency in what's being celebrated.  As for me, I enjoyed a weekend of being surrounded by friends and family.  On Friday night I helped Sierra's softball team's practice by running a drill with the pitchers and catchers - continue reading →

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all are having a fabulous summer so far! This year, up here in the great white north we're lucky to have an extra long summer. The kids have been off for 4 weeks already and they have about 6.5 weeks left until they head back to school. School here usually ends the last week of June, then the kids go back the Tuesday following Labour Day (first Monday of September). This year because September starts on a Tuesday, Labour day is as late as it can possibly be so the kids get 10.5 weeks off of school instead of continue reading →

How to Keep Your Earbuds from Tangling + Other Things I’m Loving

cordskinz review - no more tangled earbuds!

It’s been quite a while since the last time I wrote a “Things I’m Loving” post but I’ve found so many great things that I want to share with you. I honestly struggle with figuring out the best way to share these things – Instagram pics? Twitter? Facebook? Dedicated blog posts for each item? I definitely don’t have enough time to write dedicated posts about every awesome fitness related thing I encounter so I’ve decided to resume writing a "Things I’m Loving" post on a monthly basis, probably on the last Saturday of the month because the continue reading →

Getting Back on Track and a Marathon Training Plan

Healthy eating motivation - reward yourself for making good choices with stickers.

Hey guys! I’m back from my disappearing act. My offline life over the past two weeks has kept me pretty busy. There was Brooke’s 8th birthday party and pool party at our place, my 40th birthday, Sierra’s softball tournament, Brooke’s double root canal surgery (the result of a missed softball catch), quite a few softball practices and Amber’s soccer games and a weekend camping trip with my girls. Gimme all the cake! Whew! I am exhausted! I am also feeling the effects of eating far too many S’mores, chips and cake while camping this continue reading →

Trying to Lose Weight?

Cup of green tea for weight loss

Increase Intensity and Drink Green Tea It’s well-known that the secret to losing weight is to be active and to burn more calories than you take in. But what happens when that stops working? Ugh! That dreaded word: PLATEAU.  That's what happens. I'm practically the poster-child for when being active and logging your food no longer works. Last summer, my marathon training helped me to reach a nice healthy weight. Then something changed over the winter. Despite being just as active as I was all of last year, I began to re-gain continue reading →

Five Things Friday: 5 Reasons I Love Friday + a Camping Workout

CAMPINGWORKOUT

Happy Fri-yay everyone! (I stole the Fri-yay from my bestie). I don’t know about you, but I totally love Fridays for the following reasons: After a week of getting up early for work I’m finally settled back into routine which makes getting up easier. The traffic getting to work is lighter (though going home is usually heavier than normal). Work is busy – it’s usually busier on Fridays than other days which makes the day go by faster. Everyone seems to be in a better mood. I can get together with friends in the evening and stay up continue reading →

If you’re new here, #MotivateME Monday is a weekly link-up co-hosted by myself and Running Rachel for accountability and encouragement. It’s a place for us to share goals, plans, successes and have each other to pick us up to keep moving forward. Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Mine was simply amazing! The weather was beautiful so I was able to spend it doing my favourite thing in the world… sitting by the pool. Oh and Friday was my big 4-0, which wasn't nearly as traumatic as I was anticipating. I have been continue reading →

Trying to Lose Weight?

Cup of green tea for weight loss

Trying to lose weight or even maintain weight can be hard and frustrating.  Trust me - I know.  After last year's marathon I've been struggling with my own weight.  Despite training consistently through the winter my weight slowly crept up and up and my performance suffered. As you know, I was able to break through the plateau and ran a half marathon personal best recently. Please visit the Life Brand hub where I discuss weight management, how I broke through a plateau , a weight loss diet and to see health and continue reading →

Somewhat Wordless Wednesday: Weddings, Birthdays, Fireworks and More

IMG_9823.JPG

Happy Tuesday Wednesday everyone! I am so sorry for pretty much dropping off of the face of this planet these past two weeks. My normally busy life has gone into warp speed and went from a manageable level of busyness to a ridiculous amount of busyness. On the plus side I can definitely say that life has been anything but boring these past few weeks and I honestly wouldn’t trade it for the world. I have so much to tell you and share with you but I just haven’t had time to write about everything so I thought I would instead dump out half of continue reading →

The Ultimate Summer Workout Playlist

ULTIMATE SUMMER WORKOUT PLAYLIST

I know lots of people who workout and run without music, but for me, I just can’t do it. I need a fast beat to pump me up. I also need a fresh new playlist for every training cycle. Besides the fact that music has been proven to increase training intensity, it also makes me so HAPPY! Sometimes a sucktastic workout is made better just by the music you listen to. Previously I’ve shared my awesome fall marathon playlist, and my Spring workout playlist, so this time I thought I would share with you the ultimate summer workout playlist to continue reading →
